Battles of World War I that the King Albert I of Belgium fought in?
What were the important battles that King Albert fought in? What were some of its major achievemnts during WW1? And what were the other general facts about him?
If you google a bit, you will find his biography. As army chief, he did not fight personally, but it was certainly the most High-ranking general who has ever visited the front lines or flow on the front lines. This was greatly appreciated by his soldiers (King Albert young son later to be King Leopold III on the frontline, Queen Elizabeth was a nurse in military hospitals, no other state No one can say that the head of state had such close relationship with his soldiers than Belgium) was also the only head of state who have resisted Joffre, Foch and Haigh when they claim attack against well-defended German positions. When there was a chance for success, he left the army attack Belgian. Battles he participated as commander of the Belgian Army: Cork, Halen, 3 attacks Antwerp (one played an important role in the Battle of the Marne since the holding of German troops in Belgium that would have made the difference), Battle of Antwerp, Battle of the Yser (the battle of more important for the survival of Belgium), Merkem. Indirectly: the battles in Africa were the Police Force arrested the Germans and threw them out of Rwanda, Burundi and helped the British South African troops. In 1918 he received command of the Flanders army group which was composed of army divisions Belgian, French, British and American. King Albert was in very high esteem by his soldiers because he treated them humanely and not take part in battles who had no chance to make a breakthrough. This is to be compared with the French and the British "Butcher" generals. Maybe The difference is that he visited the front lines and not only remained in his headquarters.
