Do you think that a few extremes of any religion gives the whole religion a bad reputation?
For example Islam terrorists give Muslims a bad name, and similarly the Westboro Baptist Church and others that believe in preaching hate give Christianity a bad name?
Why do you believe these sects of the major religions go so extreme?
You could also say, and I will dare to say, that just following the religion at all is radical and extreme against what our senses tell us about actuality.
If I said I "beleive" that if you don't believe someone died and CAME BACK FROM THE DEAD, and, if you don't believe it, you will burn for eternity in a lake of fire no less, isn't that itself radical, psychadellic, and extreme?
The extereme actions within religion ARE religion. It doesn't come from nowhere. We often talk about "bastardization" of religion to soften the blow of atrocity and try to rationalize that Man cannot be so inhuman. But if a society is fostering such actions with toerance of irrationality of perception of truth, than yes, the religion itself and its meek majority is responsible for exteremism itself.
You don't need a terrorist or an Inquistor to create inhumanity, all you need is tolerance for a religion that permanently and baseless condemns human life, which is exactly what the cults of christianity and islam do.
Religion gives religion a bad reputation. The passive majority does not believe wholeheartedly. The extreme believe the religion entirely. They are not bastardizing the faith. They are the examples of perfect and totally convinced faith.So much they are will to kill and die for their God.
And if you are NOT will to put everything in this life aside and die for your God, then, as every last preist and imam knows, you are merely going through the motions, not living the faith.
