The small white band broke on the tuning peg of my Martin travel guitar, help?!?
While tuning my A string, the white band wrapped around the thin part of the tuning peg snapped, and dropped the string about a step and a half. I'm afraid to tune it back up to an A because i don't want to do any more damage. Is this a serious problem and do i need a repair? Ive never had this issue before so i have no clue what to do. Thanks.
Im not sure what "white band" you are talking about. If its the string, just get another string. If its part of the tuning peg, you will need to replace the 1 tuning peg. Im not sure if you can buy 1 tuning peg from a store or if you need to get a complete set. You can get 1 tuning peg from Ebay. If the white band is the ferrule that the tuning peg sits in, you would need to either get a tuning peg with the ferrule, or see if you can find it at some of the below listed sites.
PLEASE NOTE - if you are the original owner, Martin may replace this part for you, sometimes free of charge. They have already done that for me on one of my electric acoustic martins. Contact the factory.
