How do you get the smell of cigarette smoke on a DVD case?
I recently bought a season of a show TV-hand. I brought it home and looked through it and got a whiff of the smell of smoke cigarette. The DVD case is not only plastic, but also paper / cardboard (like the jacket that comes on some movies that slides and cases outside). Any suggestions for getting rid of the smell?
Here's what I've seen make ashtrays, it may well work in your situation. After making sure the plastic parts are clean. If you can separate the paper safely, do so. Otherwise, just be careful not wet. Now, for the plastic part, preparing a solution of hot water and tea tree oil (which is an antiseptic). Just a few drops of oil. Dampen a clean cloth in the solution of water, wring it out and keep clean at all. Allow to air dry, do not rinse. Then, immerse the paper and plastic in case of dry baking soda. Make sure it is completely covered and let the case in the bicarbonate soda for at least 24 hours, more if needed. Baking soda neutralizes odors and is used in ashtrays at all times, so it should help the smoke secondary. Good luck to you! Renee
