How accurate are these books about Jim Morrison of The Doors?
"No One Here Gets Out Alive" by Jerry Hopkins and Danny Sugerman
and
"Jim Morrison: Life, Death, Legend"
by Stephen Davis
also,there were 2 copies of "No One Here Gets Out Alive" at Barnes and Noble..but one was smaller. Why?

You should surely read NOHGOA, and never ever read the Steven Davis book. NOHGOA is a great basic Doors and Jim book. I really do trust the authors and the book was very enjoyable to read. If someone were to read only one Doors' book in their life, it should be NOHGOA. From what I know, they are as credible as books about the past can be. Of course some things will get tweaked or forgotten, but you can trust it to lay a great basic foundation for Doors knowledge. The smaller size was produced since the book was such a success, nothing is different about it other than it fits in your purse better. Really, it is not possible for me to express my dislike for the Steven Davis book. I was given this book as a Christmas present. I read part of it and found it border-line disturbing. The author has no respect for the people he writes about. He makes up terrible lies to insinuate that things happened that most likely did not, (Jim being molested by his father, being gay with a club owner, having mysterious undiagnosed illnesses) I have actually spoken to people who have known Jim about the book. I asked them the same thing that you did, if it was credible, and they just laughed. They said very little is true in that book, and with all of the lies that it says, you can not trust anything else it says.This was the only book I had to read during school during the standardized test and I could not stand to read it, I really was wishing I had NOHGOA with me, actually I just threw the Steven Davis book in the top of my locker (which leaks) and it has been there since. Anyway, you should really read NOHGOA it is great and trustworthy, very much unlike Life, Death, Legend.
*As someone answered to your other question, you pretty good reading books written by people that knew Jim. But...Do NOT read Patricia Kennealy's horrible book, I could go on about that book for even longer than the Steven Davis one
