91Mazda323 Cant find the cover plate for the flywheel to stop it turning to get nut off the timing belt pulley?
I am changing the water pump of my Familia /323 and I can't get the nut off the end of the crankcase at the pulley. I have read you should remove the cover plate of the flywheel and put a screwdriver in but I cannot find where the cover plate is?
I know it is not recommended (as are at least one other answer here), but I use a pipe wrench on the pulley. Not around it, but to kind of pinch the outer wall of the pulley.
Take note on the key in the key way. If this is a 1.6 engine or one of its family, it may only truly fit one way out of eight.
You might want to get that front oil seal while you are in that far!
